MN Beatle Project Mural

Vega Productions is excited to announce that we will be creating a giant Minnesota Beatle Project themed mural at Four Seasons Elementary A+ in Saint Paul! The idea, and driving force, behind the mural is Minneapolis artist Sherri Faye. Sherri came to Vega Productions with the idea back in 2010 and it's finally becoming a reality in 2012 thanks to generous donations from the Valspar Foundation, Purdy Painting Tools, Scaffold Service Inc, and mural production volunteers Timothy Peters, Wes Landry, Tyler Patterson and Staci Faye. Work on the mural will begin in April and we will be documenting the process with photos and video. The mural will be unveiled to the public during the schools' annual arts celebration on Thursday, June 7th at 5PM. Stay tuned for details!

ISLA Music Program Fundraiser

Fourth graders from the International Spanish Language Academy (ISLA), a public charter school in Minnetonka, are promoting sales for The Minnesota Beatle Project Vol3. ISLA is a Spanish immersion program and an International Baccalaureate PYP candidate school, grades K-6. They just launched a capital campaign, UnoDosGrow.org , to raise funds for their new building.

"We are a young school still building our programs. We searched for a fundraiser that fit with ISLA's core values including service to others. We are very excited to work with Vega Productions to promote and sell The Beatles Project 3. Not only are we supporting our music department, we are also helping other schools in our state! I have enjoyed working with Vega Productions. Clearly they are committed and passionate about creating opportunities for children to learn and grow through music."

--Heather Copps, ISLA parent and UnoDosGrow Steering Committee member.

Funds raised will support ISLAs music program by purchasing learning tools such as rhythm instruments and drum stands. These will benefit students today and in years to come.

If you are interested in purchasing an album from the school to support their music programs, please contact the school via this email address: Office@islacad.org

Instruments in the Cloud

The Need

From its inception, Vega Productions has secured donated instruments and distributed them to students that qualify for free-or-reduced lunch and schools where music budgets have been slashed. Up until now, this has been done manually through our team of volunteers and Schmitt Music donation sites. As the need for instruments has grown due to deep budget cuts in schools and growing financial pressure on families, it has become increasingly challenging to keep up with the demand.

What Is It?

To combat this problem, Vega Productions is in the early design phases of our biggest project yet -"Instruments in the Cloud, a cloud-based website that will assist school districts and music instructors in providing instruments to students in financial need. “Instruments in the Cloud” will allow users (music teachers and administration) to easily catalog and manage existing instrument inventories, add newly purchased or donated instruments, search for available instruments from surrounding schools and request those instruments for their students who cannot afford to purchase or rent. It will also act as a portal for instrument donors to easily connect directly with schools so they can donate their used instrument to a school near them. Donors will be able to track the "life of their instrument" after it enters the "Instruments in the Cloud' site so they can see how the instrument is continuing to touch the lives of young people even after it has left their hands.

“Instruments in the Cloud” will create an inter-connected community of schools and music instructors that can work collaboratively to provide the opportunity for every student to participate in music education.

Kickstarter Campaign

To help bring this project to life, we have launched a Kickstarter campaign
to raise funding for the design, build, hosting, launch and promotion of "Instruments in the Cloud". The total cost of the initial build and launch of the project is $10,000. We set our funding goal at $2500 as Kickstarter will only fund the project if the total goal is reached. So, we would appreciate your help in exceeding our goal to fully fund the project.

There are rewards at every donation level, so please consider helping to bring "Instruments in the Cloud" to life!

Duluth Public Schools Receive $27k Donation from Vega Productions

Vega Productions presented $27,000 worth of instruments to the Duluth Public School District on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2011. The donation was made possible by a partnership between Vega Productions, the Duluth Public School District and the City of Duluth which collaborated to produce a benefit concert at the Clyde Iron Works featuring Duluth musicians Trampled by Turtles and Charlie Parr. This donation will provide the opportunity for 600 Duluth students to participate in music programs each year, students that would otherwise not have the opportunity to do so.

Here are links to news coverage of the event and donation:

This was an incredible event that could not have been a success without the support of: Mayor Don Ness and the City of Duluth, Theresa Akervik and the Duluth Public School District's Music Department, Clyde Iron Works, KUMD, Trampled by Turtles, Charlie Parr, visual artist Jeredt Runions, visual artist Adam Slaybaugh, Schmitt Music and all of the volunteers that assisted with the production and promotion of the event.
