Anthony Middle School Donation

On Friday, January 30th, Vega Productions made a donation to Susan B. Anthony Middle School in South Minneapolis. The donation consisted of nearly 40 instruments including six acoustic guitars, a number of trumpets, trombones, saxophones and other goodies that the kids really needed. The Southwest Minneapolis High School drum core provided music and speeches were given by Doug Schmitt of Schmitt Music, Anthony music director Brian Vanderheul and Vega board memer, Tim Peters. The school will be starting a afterschool guitar program in the fall with the help of all of the donated guitars.
Thank you to all involved with the instrument drive and WYE including MJG Productions, Schmitt Music, Trocaderos and all of the donors!

On Saturday, January 31st, Vega Productions will present our first ever benefit event with proceeds being used to fund our charitable activities for 2009. Our organization is experiencing a growth spurt and operational funds are needed to help us as we strive to reach our goal of donating $100,000.00 worth of instruments and art supplies to needy schools this year.

Saturday's show is at the Fineline and is being produced in conjunction with Umphrey's McGee's 3-night Minneapolis run at First Avenue. Our show features the music of God Johnson & The Histronic with some special guests expected. We will also run a silent auction which will include one-of-a-kind Umphrey's items, a Minnesota Wild team-signed hockey stick, a Rex Grossman signed official Chicago Bears jersey, spa and hotel gift certificates and an original live performance painting that will be created by artist Michelle Ochs during the concert.

Thanks to all of the bands, artists, silent auction donors, and everyone else who helped make this show happen!

We will also offer a limited number of t-shirts that were created by MCAD artist Justin Schraff. Chcek them out!
