Instruments in the Cloud

The Need

From its inception, Vega Productions has secured donated instruments and distributed them to students that qualify for free-or-reduced lunch and schools where music budgets have been slashed. Up until now, this has been done manually through our team of volunteers and Schmitt Music donation sites. As the need for instruments has grown due to deep budget cuts in schools and growing financial pressure on families, it has become increasingly challenging to keep up with the demand.

What Is It?

To combat this problem, Vega Productions is in the early design phases of our biggest project yet -"Instruments in the Cloud, a cloud-based website that will assist school districts and music instructors in providing instruments to students in financial need. “Instruments in the Cloud” will allow users (music teachers and administration) to easily catalog and manage existing instrument inventories, add newly purchased or donated instruments, search for available instruments from surrounding schools and request those instruments for their students who cannot afford to purchase or rent. It will also act as a portal for instrument donors to easily connect directly with schools so they can donate their used instrument to a school near them. Donors will be able to track the "life of their instrument" after it enters the "Instruments in the Cloud' site so they can see how the instrument is continuing to touch the lives of young people even after it has left their hands.

“Instruments in the Cloud” will create an inter-connected community of schools and music instructors that can work collaboratively to provide the opportunity for every student to participate in music education.

Kickstarter Campaign

To help bring this project to life, we have launched a Kickstarter campaign
to raise funding for the design, build, hosting, launch and promotion of "Instruments in the Cloud". The total cost of the initial build and launch of the project is $10,000. We set our funding goal at $2500 as Kickstarter will only fund the project if the total goal is reached. So, we would appreciate your help in exceeding our goal to fully fund the project.

There are rewards at every donation level, so please consider helping to bring "Instruments in the Cloud" to life!
